Our course is based on Challenges for the Next Decade: A Primer on Accounting Malpractice and Its Prevention. Dramatic changes are taking place in all aspects of business. The Internet has created unprecedented opportunities for companies and individuals (your clients). With these opportunities has come a great deal of risk. Today’s accounting professionals must understand these risks. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to what accounting malpractice is and how to prevent it. It also offers tools on how to defend against it. The course is divided into three areas:

  1. Challenges for the next Decade
    - Major risks facing the profession, such as advocacy services, threaten auditor independence
  2. Meeting the Emerging Standards
    - Identifying and mitigating audit risks
    - Identifying emerging and non-audit risk areas
  3. Practitioners’ Guide to the Legal Process
    - The nature of an accountant’s duties
    - Basis for filing claims and what to do when you receive notice
    - The litigation process from start to finish

CPE Requirements
Our courses have been developed in accordance with the AICPA Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs. CPE requirements and course acceptability vary from state to state. Your state board is the final authority for the number of credit hours allowed for a particular program, as well as the classification of courses, under its specific licensing requirement.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Accounting, Auditing or other Consulting/Advisory services is required. This course builds on a basic level of understanding in order to relate fundamental principles or skills to practical situations and extend them to a broader range of applications. This course is for participants with some exposure to the subject matter.

Advance Preparation Required: None

Recommended CPE: 4 credits

For Live courses, full refunds will be given if written cancellation requests are received 14 days or more prior to the date of the course. Refunds of 50% of course fees will be given if written cancellation requests are received within 14 days prior to the date of the course. No refunds will be given for requests received during or after the course. Refunds are contingent upon the receipt by AccountingMalpractice.com of any materials sent to participants prior to the course. Full refunds of course fees will be given for any courses cancelled by AccountingMalpractice.com.
